Ankie has extensive experience as a project leader and advisor in projects related to sediment management in coasts and estuaries. She worked at Rijkswaterstaat-RIKZ from 2002-2006, also on sediment management, but from the role of a government agency, as coastal manager and commissioner of advisory services and studies. She gained experience with scientific research through her PhD research on sediment transport at Delft University of Technology (1998 – 2002). Since 2006 she works for Deltares on projects related to sediment management for the Dutch coast and the Scheldt estuary. Currently, she is project leader for the applied research “Kustlijnzorg” (Coastline management), commissioned by the Waterdienst. Keywords for her activities are: assessment frameworks, multiple land use, impact assessments, management concepts and demand-articulation. She works often in multidisciplinary teams and has the ability to bridge various disciplines.
