Why: In today’s times of financial crisis, the public is right to expect the most efficient and effective use of public funds ensuring the future security, availability and affordability of the essential infrastructure systems. To help infrastructure planners, policy makers and regulators grasp the big picture, researchers are creating a new generation of modeling and simulation tools. A specific obstacle to be tackled in making these new models work is their data intensity. As data exchange between public and private players, within and between different infrastructure systems, is not easily accomplished.
This workshop will present state of the art methods and tools for modeling and simulation of infrastructure systems, including smart strategies for making sense of open data and converting them into actionable insights.
