Successful meeting about Internet Neutrality

Successful meeting about Internet Neutrality

10 nov 2009

Transfer of data on electric networks is increasing in size, also because of the increasing use of mobile internet. Therefore, the question about how we should deal with managing this information becomes more evident: Can internet providers use their power to make restrictions to certain information?

Speakers from all over Europe came to discuss the issue and give insights about how things are done in their home countries. Frode Sorensen of the Norwegian supervisor NPT explained how the parties of Norway have come to a decision of non-discrimination of internet traffic. Also Michel van Eeten van NG Infra plead for a protocol like this, but only by creating rules for demanding issues.

Frans Heemskerk, minister of Economical Affairs, stated that the solution for desecrating netneutrality will arive with the forthcoming European rules, called "New Regulatory Framework".

The given presentations can be found online at site of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
